Here's What's Cookin': 
     Candied Apples

Ingredients:  

  • ~15 apples
  • 1 craft stick per apple
  • 2 c white sugar
  • 1 c light corn syrup
  • 1-1/2 c water
  • 8 drops red food coloring
Instructions:

  1. Lightly grease cookie sheets.
  2. Remove stems from apples.
  3. Insert craft sticks into apples.
  4. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine sugar, corn syrup and water.
  5. Heat to 300 to 310oF (149 to 154oC), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms hard, brittle threads.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in food coloring.
  7. Holding apple by its stick, dip in syrup and remove and turn to coat evenly.
  8. Place on prepared sheets to harden.
